A few minutes of care each day keeps a bouquet fresh for up to a week. Here is what our florists do in the studio every morning.
Cut the stems at an angle
Trim about two centimetres off each stem with a sharp knife, at an angle, so the stem can drink more water. Repeat every two days.
Change the water daily
Fresh, cool water slows bacteria down. Rinse the vase and remove any leaves that sit below the water line.
Find a cool spot
Keep flowers away from direct sun, air-conditioning vents and ripening fruit, which releases a gas that makes petals fall.
